Expected Effects
- Preventing thoughtless development and pollution of groundwater of rural community
- Executing efficient development, use, conservation, and management of groundwater of rural community
- Prgroundwater of rural communityoviding clean groundwater to rural community
- Passing down clean groundwater to the next generation through adequate conservation and management of groundwater
Project Results
To establish the necessary measures for each area in order to devise a groundwater development plan
for each Rural Water Supply Area, to manage those areas with excessive use and the potential for
water pollution, and to use these measures for the efficient development, use, conservation, and
management of groundwater resources
161 Rural Water Supply Areas are completed
(56 local governments) unitil 2011
Project results have been provided as Internet through constructing a Rural Groundwater Management System
Utilization Cases
- Groundwater Research
- Utilizing research on groundwater use statusby local government

- Designation of Muan-gun’s land subsidence areaas Groundwater Conservation Area(Apr.3,2002)
- Utilizing basic data for establishing regional groundwater management plan
- Utilizing setting up groundwater management measures for low groundwater level area
- Utilizing the management of the groundwater registers of local governments
- Disaster management for concern areas of drought, etc
- Other
- Utilizing groundwater quality and quantity data of BK21 research area
Future Plans
The primary investigation of 177 areas(50% of the Rural Community)which are urgently needed to establish measures for preserving and managing groundwater by 2013 as motivated by concerns regarding excessive use and pollution.
